What are the applications of silane coupling agents?

Silane coupling agents are also known as vinyl silane, amino silane, epoxy silane, mercapto silane and methacryloxy silane, etc., which are commonly used silane coupling agents. Its application can be summarized in three aspects:
One. For the surface treatment of glass fiber, it can improve the adhesion of glass fiber and resin, and greatly improve the strength, electrical, water resistance, weather resistance and other properties of glass fiber reinforced composite materials. Even in the wet state, it can improve the mechanical properties of composite materials, and the effect is also very significant.
At present, the use of silane coupling agent in glass fiber has been quite common, used in this aspect of the silane coupling agent accounts for about 50% of its total consumption, which is used more varieties of vinyl silane, amino silane, methacryloxy silane and so on.
II. Used for filling plastics with inorganic fillers. The filler may be surface-treated in advance, or may be added directly to the resin. It can improve the dispersion and adhesion of the filler in the resin, improve the process performance and improve the mechanical, electrical and weather resistance of the filled plastic (including rubber).
3 Used as a sealant, adhesive and coating tackifier, can improve their bonding strength, water resistance, weather resistance and other properties. Silane coupling agents can often solve the problem that some materials have been unable to bond for a long time.
